Portland, MAINE
NNENIX currently operates three physical locations in Portland where members can interconnect.
Location #1 is at FirstLight’s 9 Westland Avenue, Portland, Maine telecom facility.
This carrier class telecom facility has diverse physical fiber entrances, a 48 volt DC battery power plant (A+B), backup generator power, 7x24x365 monitoring, secure logged access, and "remote hands" services. FirstLight offers easy access to dark fiber optic loops connecting NNENIX to 45 Forest Avenue (Consolidated Central Office), 340 Cumberland Avenue (CENTRA Digital carrier hotel) and many other locations in Portland and beyond. Colocation rack space (23" full cabinet and half cabinet), power, and long haul dark fiber connectivity is available for purchase from FirstLight.
Location #2 is at the University of Southern Maine’s Science Building (70 Falmouth Street, Room 235)
This facility is operated by Networkmaine, a part of the University of Maine System that provides network connectivity, management and support to education and research institutions across Maine including the Maine Research and Education Network (Maine REN), and the Maine School and Library Network (MSLN.NET). The combined networks provide services to over 1000 buildings across the state, including 99% of Maine’s public schools, public Libraries, higher education campuses, research institutions and state and local government offices.
Location #3 is at Deep Edge Realty’s Content and Carrier Hotel building at 340 Cumberland Avenue
Maine’s only carrier neutral data center is owned by CENTRA Digital. This Tier III facility has diverse physical fiber optic cable entrances, two separate power grid connections, multiple backup generators, 7x24x365 monitoring, secure logged access, and "remote hands" services. Colocation cabinet space and suite space is available for lease from CENTRA. Several long-haul and carrier fiber networks are available here, including Charter Spectrum, Crown Castle /Lightower, Consolidated Communications / Fairpoint, Gonetspeed / OTT / Otelco / MidMaine FirstLight / Maine Fiber Company / Oxford Networks, Windstream, and Verizon.
ORONO, MAINE
NNENIX’s Bangor regional site is located at Networkmaine’s data center facility on the University of Maine campus at 5752 Neville Hall. This facility has diverse physical fiber entrances, both AC an DC power plants (A+B), backup generator power, 7x24x365 monitoring, secure logged access, and "remote hands" services.
FirstLight offers easy access to dark fiber optic loops connecting NNENIX to 59 Park Street, Bangor (Consolidated Communications Central Office) and many other locations in the Bangor regions and beyond. Lit services at this location are also available from Consolidated Communications, Charter Spectrum, and Gonetspeed.
Colocation rack space (19" full cabinet and half cabinet) and power, is available from Networkmaine. Colocation space by the rack unit is available directly from NNENIX on a individual case basis.
